While land-based and waterway-based casinos are legally licensed by the German government, at the time of this printing, there is a ban on online gambling and all advertising for gambling establishments. This is despite the best efforts of the European Commission, which seems to be determined to put an end to the German state-run gambling restrictions as soon as possible. The Commission issued three clear statements against Germany in less than two months and at least one more statement is expected to be released shortly. A solution will have to be found within the coming weeks.
